April 1, 2007 Throughout time men have tried either to bring God down to their level (making Him more like mankind) or else lift themselves up to His level (exalting themselves as if they were like God). We should be glad that Almighty God is not like us (Isaiah 55:8-9; cf. Numbers 23:19). We are happy to know that the Lord God is our creator and that we are “made in His image” (Genesis 5:1). Therefore we are challenged to strive to be more like Him everyday. But we must always remember that our place is beneath Him; in submission to Him and His word (James 4:7-8). We rejoice in His “only begotten Son” who came into this world that we might see His example and know how to walk in His footsteps (1 Peter 2:21). We are so very thankful for Christ’s sacrifice, because it is the only thing that can free us from the great consequences of sin and makes us alive in the Lord (Romans 6). We are satisfied to rest in the strength and love of our Heavenly Father (Ephesians 6:10; Romans 5:8; 1 John 3:1). We are glad that He is not harsh or impatient with us when we stumble and fall, but He cares for us, forgives us, and continues to bless us, as He guides us in His truth and discipline (1 John 1:7; 2 Thessalonians 2:14; Hebrews 12:5-6; 2 Peter 3:9). There is great joy in knowing our Father loves us and communes with us (John 14:23; 1 John 1:3). How wonderful to know that Jehovah God makes Himself available to us every moment of every day, therefore we have nothing to fear in this life (Matthew 10:28; Philippians 4:19) “...for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5). We all are human and so limited by our humanness. Therefore, people will
fail us as we will fail them. We will disappoint one another from time
to time. We are so glad that our Father will never let us down. He is
not human. He is God! |
