September 2, 2007 The old saying is true, “It’s good to get away, but it’s good to come back home.” Carrie and I had a wonderful trip to Michigan. We were able to accomplish most everything that was on our schedule and see most of those we had hoped to meet. It is regretful that we were not able to connect with Wayne and Diane George, especially during the difficult time of his father’s death. The gospel meeting was successful with good attendance and one response to the invitation. We hope that we were able to give a boost to our church family there in Davison. Everyone was so gracious, kind, and hospitable. We are so blessed to have Christian brothers and sisters in different parts of the country that make us feel just like we are right at home. The Lord was watching over us with all the severe weather that raged about us during our stay. It rained most every day. Several storm fronts passed through. One evening as we were watching the Weather Channel during an approaching storm, the commentator made reference to a “wall of lightning” that would be coming to our town in about 15 minutes! I had never heard of such a thing — a bit eerie to say the least. We were thankful that the front broke apart some before it arrived, although two tornadoes touched down just south of where we were staying doing significant damage to homes and business there. Again we put our trust in God as Carrie flew home on Sunday evening and my brother and I drove on home, arriving Monday night. How thankful we are to God for His watchful eye and protection as we traveled. What a blessing to come home to news of two new sisters in Christ. Congratulations to Crystal and Jade. The Lord continues to bless us with the talent of men who are willing to fill in while I am away. A special thanks to Gary and Sean for their efforts in teaching and preaching. I have heard they both did a great job. As we begin this new month and the approach of the fall season, may we
always look to God for his bountiful blessings each and every day. |
