Church marquees always seem to catch my eye. It is partly because of my curiosity about what others are saying. There also may be a chance that we might be able to use their short saying or clever one-liner on our own church marquee some time.

The other day I saw one which said simply, “God Loves You.” At first, I thought, “That isn’t very original,” but I quickly repented of this thought. How unique God’s love is for me; and not only for me, but for all of mankind! As I drove on, my mind expanded on the many facets of God’s love for everyone.

There are many questions that come to mind when we consider the love of God. Why does God love you and me? How does God love us? How does this translate into our own lives; in our love for him and others? What does God’s love do? Is there anything that his love will not do?

It is along these lines that I chose the subject of love for our next Tuesday Bible class. Using First Corinthians thirteen, we will examine carefully Paul’s inspired definition of love. We will compare God’s word on love with the common ideas and misconceptions of what people often mistake as love. Many times we make decisions in the “name of love” that actually are bad decisions and very harmful to our relationship with God and one another.

As we dwell on the subject of God’s perfect love, no doubt we have a lot to learn. Everyone is invited to join us, beginning this next Tuesday, January 8, for our first session. We meet back in the fellowship room from 10 to 11 o’clock. This class runs through the end of April when many of our winter members are returning to their summer homes.

If you have not been with us before, park along the driveway in the regular parking lot and enter the side door marked “church offices.” Just make your way back to the fellowship hall from there.

We hope to see you all on Tuesday!
