River Road
Celebrates
48 Years!

We passed another milestone on Thursday of this past week. The River Road congregation has been in New Port Richey for 48 years now. Some of us can recall a few of those pioneers who had the foresight of seeing God’s family meeting here. Let us continue that vision and drive in expanding the borders of the kingdom in this area. May God reward our efforts as He did theirs so long ago.

Rules From God

Wake Up...
...and decide to have a good day. “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalms 118:24). “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed” (Romans 13:11).

Dress Up!!
“For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Sam. 16:7). “...be clothed with righteousness” (Psalms 132:9) and “humility” (1 Peter 5:5). “...put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:24).

Shut Up!!
Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening than talking. “He who guards his lips guards his soul” (Proverbs 13:3). “..let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath” (James 1:19).

Stand Up...
...For what you believe in! Stand for something or you will fall for anything.. “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13).

Look Up...
...To the Lord. “I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). “...we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness” (2 Peter 3:13).

Reach Up...
...For something higher. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct our path” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Lift Up...
...Your prayers to God. “...do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6).

JUST TAKE IT STRAIGHT

Do not read anything into the Good Book, if you wish to get anything out of it — just take it straight. Instead of trying to alter your Bible to fit you, change yourself to fit it; otherwise, you will have religion’s conformity in reverse. What you think of the Bible does not affect it — just you. If it appears too deep, you surely need the exercise it affords to think it deeper. If it looks too exacting, you definitely require its influence to keep from straying. And if it seems dry, it might be that you have allowed too much dust to accumulate on it.

“Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you” (Deuteronomy 4:2).

Baptisms
We rejoice with the angels in heaven as Kristina Hickman and Melinda Braxton were baptized into Christ last Wednesday evening after Bible study. Their addresses and phone numbers are available in the church office. Be sure to add them to your directory.

Crystal Figueroa has moved. You may ask for her address from the church office. Her phone number remains the same. Please remember to change it in your directory.

Building Fund
Next Sunday!

Just like in our own homes, we continue to add to our “to do” list for the church’s property. There is always a need to maintain, repair, or replace some vital part of the building and grounds. The elders have provided a special fund, which is over and above our regular contribution, for anyone who desires to help with these things. We appreciate the extra that so many of you give.

Graduation Open House
Jesse Pohlman has invited the congregation to share in the celebration of his graduation this Saturday, May 12, from 1-5 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
