neither shadow of turning” (Jam. 1:17).

TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOR HIS BLESSINGS!

A REASON, A SEASON, OR A LIFETIME

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into you life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Let Jesus come into your life for a lifetime. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20). — Copied

Six Ways to Boost Church Attendance

On September 5th, I attended my first University of Tennessee football game. Boy, it was great! Now, I’ve been to football games before. I went to see the Detroit Lions 22 years ago before they moved into the Silverdome. Of course, I’ve been to high school games and enjoyed them. But going to a U.T. game was special. Being a student of human nature and of psychology, I learned several things at that game - basically how we can boost our church attendance.

Here is what I have come up with:

1.) We’re going to replace our cushioned pews with steel benches and remove the backs.
2.) We’re going to make people sit very close to each other. Especially close to those we don’t know.
3.) We’re going to take the top off the building. There must be something about having a top on the building that keeps people from coming in.
4.) We’re going to have someone holler real loud into the loud speaker. I guess that’ll be me since I’m the preacher.
5.) Oh yeah, one last thing. We’re going to make everyone pay $20 to get in - even before they know the outcome.

U.T. is second only to the University of Michigan in attendance at football games. University of Michigan has 105,000 and U.T. only has 95,000; but we’ll settle for 95,000 at church. Oh, one more thing. We’re going to change our services to last three hours instead of one. Boy, with these changes you’d better come early next Sunday to get a good parking place.

Urgent Prayer
The Lampkins were involved in a serious car accident on their way home from Pensacola last Monday. Roosevelt has some broken ribs and a lung contusion. He is in ICU at Seven Rivers Hospital in Crystal River. Nadine was released on Tuesday.

Response
Mary Kay Schenk came forward last Sunday asking for our prayers and forgiveness. She has been discouraged lately and hasn’t been attending as she should. Let’s pray for Mary Kay and encourage her in this difficult time. We appreciate her courage in stepping forward and taking responsibility and the necessary steps to recover her faith.

Fellowship Dinner Today!

Visitors are our special guests.
Please stay and join us for some
great food and fellowship!

Appreciation
So often we fail to recognize the many things that people do in the Lord’s work. This could be those who are always before us, as well as those behind the scenes. Take a moment and reflect on those things we take for granted. Ask ourselves, “Who did (does) this?” — then go thank them.

Have You Heard?
We had a great discussion last week at the Youth Meeting. We watched Brad Harrub’s DVD on the topic “Atheism’s Attack on America.” We appreciate everyone who came and participated. These are serious issues facing all of us, but especially the next generation. We want to encourage everyone to come out to the Sneve’s house on Monday, July 16th at 7:00 p.m. for the next lesson by Brad.

If you find it hard
to stand for Jesus,
try kneeling first.

Missions Update
Keep Bob Sneve in your prayers as he works this week in Honduras. God can do great things through the efforts of His workers. We are looking forward to hearing about Bob’s adventures when he returns later this week.
