Our Fight Against Evil

Chris' Corner -- Sunday, December 6, 2020

With the prospect of a more liberal administration, immoral and ungodly citizens of this country are becoming even more brazen and emboldened.

First, a coalition of atheist and agnostic organizations have presented their blueprint for Biden’s presidency. They are asking the new administration to reverse or modify 30 executive orders and regulations the previous administration adopted to protect religious liberty in this country.

Their demands; 1. Repeal the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993. 2. Remove the name of God in all congressional oaths. 3. Prohibit state governments from passing pro-life laws. 4. Require tax-payer funded abortion, and more.

Second, the nation’s largest LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) advocacy group is urging the Biden administration to pull the accreditation of Christian colleges and schools if they don't have a policy prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. In other words, all religious colleges and schools will be forced to bow down to the homosexual revolution or forfeit official recognition of diplomas and degrees.

Paul described these people in 2 Thessalonians 2:10–12, “and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

No matter what the ungodly do, Christians must believe and promote moral purity and abstain from sexual immorality in themselves (Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 5:22; 1 Corinthians 10:8; Acts 15:29; Ephesians 5:3). We know those who practice such things cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven (Galatians 5:19-21).

The devil will never rest until he conquers every soul. Therefore, Christians must “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). “Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11).

Christians will always be confronted with immoral people and their evil ways. Some may be brief encounters and others more severe. The apostle Paul was well acquainted with serious persecution and troubles because of his faith. He said some of the same will happen to us. “Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:12–13).

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:10–12).

Our fight is not political or earthly. It is spiritual. In spite of what happens in government, children of God must remember Satan and his evil followers will do everything they can to dominate this world. To fight against these evil forces we must put on the Christian armor, pick up the “sword of the Spirit” and step into the battle. May God bless all of His soldiers of the cross with success in the fight against evil.
