Be Strong, Be Well — Wednesday, August 12
Jesus Christ still walks among the congregations of His people as He did with the seven churches of Asia in Revelation 2 & 3. He saw their works, both good and bad. He sees ours. He made judgments against them or praised them for their good works and promised great rewards. He will do the same with us today.
Focus for a moment on the church in Philadelphia. The Lord said, “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name” (Revelation 3:8).
No matter how small the congregation, no matter how limited with think we are (collectively or individually), no matter how many difficulties we have had to face, the Lord knows. He cares, and He’s willing to help, if we remain faithful.
Jesus told the church at Philadelphia, “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth” (Revelation 3:10).
Imagine the Lord walking among the congregations of His people today. Does He see faithful, active, working Christians? This is where we all need to take to heart Paul’s admonition, “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you are disqualified” (2 Corinthians 13:5).
Pray the Lord will open to us doors of opportunities for greater service. Doors that will not be shut as long as we faithfully press forward in our Christian duties. Duties toward one another, as well as those in the world who need the blood of Christ as much as we do. —Chris
