Multiplying the Number of the Righteous

Be Strong, Be Well — Thursday, July 9

Christians may very well be the reason our country has not been destroyed. In times past, it was the remnant of the faithful that caused God to delay pouring out His wrath upon sinful nations.

The only reason our society today is not worse than it could be, is because there are righteous, godly people living among us. We are those people! The presence of God’s faithful ones helps keep our country in check, at least for now. We can only imagine how much worse things would be if there were no good people around.

We have a mission. Not only do we continue in our faith and practice to “Be saved from this perverse generation" (Acts 2:40). But we also hope to influence others along the way to be saved as well. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

By multiplying the number of righteous people, God may continue to shower His good blessing upon us and spare our nation from demise and destruction. But regardless of what happens, the righteous will be saved. In quoting the prophet Isaiah, Paul said, “Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, The remnant will be saved” (Romans 9:27).

“Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:14). “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).

Hang in there. Don’t let anyone bring you down. Fight the good fight. Be strong, be well. —Chris
