We Stand Amazed!

Chris' Corner - Sunday, August 30, 2020

When we try to understand the divine nature of God, it doesn’t take long before we’re amazed at the unlimited power of the great Almighty God.

From the very first verse of the Bible we are introduced to the concept of the Godhead, three Divine Persons, collectively responsible for the creation of the vast universe and everything in it. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Then consider the plural pronouns used in reference to God. “Then God (‘Elohim) said, Let us make man in our image…” (1:26, emphasis added).

As we follow through with the Godhead in creation, we are amazed again at the revelation that the Creator is identified as Jesus Christ. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made...And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:1-3, 14).

Scripture goes on to tell us Jesus Christ sustains the universe. “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:16, 17).

Again, in Hebrews 1:2-3, God “has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

So the One who created you and me, became human and died for you and me, so we might enter into eternity and live with Him in His own heavenly home. We stand amazed!
