We are the church of Christ.
The church of Christ is not a title, but rather a description. We describe ourselves this way because we are Christ's (Matthew 16:18). We were purchased through his blood (Acts 20:28). He removes our sin (1 John 3:5), for all have sinned (Romans 3:23). He is the head of his church (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22, 23).
We enter his church through baptism (Galatians 3:27; Romans 6:3, 4). Becoming a part of his church, the body, is to put on Christ. Since there is no salvation apart from Christ (John 14:6), we must be baptized (1 Peter 3:21).
This must be proceeded by...
...our belief that Christ is the Son of God (John 3:16) and was raised from death
(Romans 10:9).
...confessing that fact among men (1 John 2:23).
...repenting of our sins (2 Corinthians 7:10).
We must then live faithfully unto death (1 Corinthians 9:24-27; Revelation 2:10).
The "whole counsel of God" must be taken into account (Acts 20:27) for all scripture is profitable (2 Timothy 3:16, 17).
Our sole guide is that scripture, God's word, The Bible.
